Beni Hassan Tombs in El Minya city

In southern Minya, Bani Hassan region is one of Upper Egypt's most popular archaeological and tourist regions. It is a region of archaeology with a former cemetery in Egypt. The field, which stretches between Assiuts and Manf as "Mit Rahina" is situated 20 kilometers south of the town of Minya in the region known as Middle Egypt.

The tombs at Bani Hassan were made up of the mountain as the burial of the nobility during the Middle Kingdom, particularly in the age of the eleventh and twelfth dynasty about 1800 BC, which means that these tombs are around 4000 years old, and the number of these tombs is 39. "It's the four complete graves which, apart from some other incomplete cemeteries, are intended to be visited"

Some think it's not entirely because the mountain nature is unacceptable, and others think it was because the cemetery's owner has no way to finish it, and we came to know the way in which the cemetery is cut out from this unfinished cemetery.

The city of Minya is located in Central Egypt, to the south of the governorates of Fayoum and Beni Suef, and it is about 245 km south of Cairo.

The name Minya is an ancient Egyptian, it comes from Minya, which stands on the Nile River as a reference point. Or, a reference to the banished Khufu is derived from the verb "wet nurse" meaning the sixteenth region's capital, Khufu, and King Khufu is said to have spent his childhood in Minya.

He spread a layer of mortar on the cemetery walls and then started drawing everyday life aspects from agricultural, industrial, and religious practices, which meant that Bani Hassan's tombs were a complete record that documented the everyday aspects of the Egyptian daily life in the Middle Kingdom.

Bani Hassan's tombs reflect the political divide between the kings and the rulers. When the pharaoh weaved, the rulers' power went up and when the pharaoh wanted to centralize the government, the rulers were named. These tombs contain registers of fishing, animal wrestling, birds, voyages, wars, and other activities. Great examples can also be seen on the front.
