Valley of the Kings in Luxor

The Valley of the kings is considered as a valley in Upper Egypt where the Pharaohs of the new kingdom buried for almost 500 years, from 1600 to 1100 B.C where royal tombs were carved into the pharaohs mountain.

The Valley of the Kings, Wadi El Muluk in Arabic, visited usually during the peak season of Egypt Travel Packagesand Egypt Day Tours. also known as the Valley of the Gates of the Kings and located in the southern part of Egypt which is known as Upper Egypt where the Pharaohs of the new kingdom used this valley as the site for the royal tombs instead of building huge pyramids which were remarked during the old kingdom for almost 500 years, (from the 16th to 11th century B.C), they are rock-cut tombs that were divided into the pharaohs mountain.

After the glory time of the pyramids, the Rulers turned to carve their tombs in Valley for many reasons the most important is robbing the pyramids plus the fall of the deity of the king and that time Thebes or Luxor became the capital of Egypt and we have just started the glory time Valley of the kings

Valley of the kings is a narrow valley of generic, red rock, but it is hidden, under the ground, numerous tombs of nearly 70 pharaohs who ruled Egypt during the new kingdom and among them are the famous kings who are well-known as the golden pharaoh Tutankhamen, Ramses II, Ramses VI, Seti I, and many more. Excavations are in progress until now in some of the tombs, and they are of the best preserved in terms of the wall paintings, scenes, engraving, but most of the royal tombs are open for visits except for two tombs that require an extra ticket. Witnessing the excellent wall paintings and seeing the great method required to build them is well-deserving bearing in mind the time and tools that had been used for such a unique art to visit it at any time of the year even in the highest temperature weather.

It was discovered on the west bank of the Nile River in Luxor and is considered among the most recommended places for the incomparable collections of tombs and interesting ancient monuments. The location makes it one of the most remarkable places for discovering ancient Egyptian History. Egyptologists have been excavating the area of the Valley of the Kings for centuries, and still surprising us with new findings till now!

The most precious discovery in the Valley of the Kings has kept archeologists working for about two centuries. If all of the tombs in the valley of the kings were open to the visitors, it would have been very difficult to open it to all the big number of history seekers, but fortunately, the chance of such a huge task is excreted for you.

Tourism authorities only open a few of the tombs at a time to allow for the needed frequent sequence of maintenance and repair. to take place. But, there are certainly some notable tombs that are open at any time. You can tell your guide which ones do you want to visit and he can assist you immediately.

The most well-known tombs are not sure the most exciting, and a ticket to the Valley of the Kings gives you the possibility to enter three different tombs. A separate ticket is needed to enter Tutankhamun’s tomb, although you may find the site to be like a maze, especially it needs an extra cost. The Valley of the Kings was the only central burial site for almost all of the royal kings and pharaohs of the New Kingdom’s era of ancient Egyptian history (3539 years ago),. The most well-known famous among them who were buried there are Tutankhamun, Seti I, and Ramses II. Also, you will find the tombs of most of the 18th dynasty, 19th dynasty, and the 20th dynasty Queens, high priests, and other elites of that period. Tutankhamen was made famous after the discovery of his tomb not for being a pharaoh with the most remarkable achievements, but because his tomb was the only tomb to be found intact without any loss of the monuments that were buried with the child king, and all of these artifacts are displayed in a special part inside the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities in Cairo
