The Fourth Dynasty of Ancient Egypt History

The fourth Egyptian family, is the fourth of the families that ruled Egypt in the period from (2575 BC – 2465 BC), followed by the fifth Egyptian family and the sixth Egyptian family, and they are all the era of the ancient state. The capital of Egypt at that time was Memphis.

This family is distinguished by the builders of Pyramides and its founder, King Sanefro, and after him Khufu, the son of King Sanefro, then Khafre, who built Herma the second and the Sphinx, then Menkaure. It is likely that the capital of its king was Memphis.

For nearly 400 years, the ancient Egyptians continued to build the tombs of their kings in the form of terraces throughout the reign of the kings of the first and second families, until a distinguished architect was born. The science of construction for the ancients for nearly a century until the rule of the third family ended and the rule of the fourth family began.

Most likely, the transfer of rule from the Fourth Dynasty was a peaceful one. Senefru (son of King Honi of a sub-wife), who has the right to inherit the throne, married. And the foundations of the fourth family. This was confirmed by the literary sources, as one of the writers of the middle state mentioned in his texts.
