Mummification in Ancient Egypt

That science remained one of the secrets of the Pharaohs, and we did not even know about it except what the Greek historian Herodotus said. He wrote down some methods of mummification during his visit to Egypt in the fifth century BC, but with the recent discoveries we have increased information about that science, especially when the American mission from The American University discovered the Cemetery No. 63 in the Valley of the Kings, which contained eight coffins, including remnants of tools and materials for mummification, which was used to preserve the mummy of King Tutankhamen, which opened a big door to reveal his hidden secrets. The preservation of bodies from the decay and decomposition was one of the most important mysteries of the ancient Egyptians, which they desperately kept. The Egyptians have always said that the spirit that left the body at death will return. And they haven’t used the artificial ways. That is why they were content to bury the dead in craters in the sandy land of the desert, They are wrapped in several folds of linen or skin of different animals or with some twigs. The internal gut helped save the body from corruption and decomposition as it appears In the bodies discovered and contemporary for the period between 8000 – 5000 BC. This method remained the natural preservation of the bodies unchanged to the beginning of the era of the families where they have been on the decorating. The bodies are decorated with colored bracelets and wrapped in several successive folds of woven linen.
