Shali Lodge is a charming Siwian-style hotel situated in the heart of olive and palm-tree forest. The hotel is also named kenooz by the Siwan group. The city center is a five-minute walk away.
Built with common Siwan methods, Shali Lodge offers 20 different rooms in different shapes and sizes. The lodge is owned by local Siwan craftsmen and developers since 1999 and was built as part of a company to restore Siwan's decaying architecture and building culture.
Set in a rare blend of sunshine and relaxation, the resort is built as an archipelago of small, 1-story buildings situated in the sandy hills within the unique landscape of the Saharan Desert.
There is one of three separate buildings in the restaurant/reception and spa; each room has a private bathroom and three guest rooms. The mud rendering of the walls made of the structures using local building techniques and materials looks similar to Siwa's old houses, although at the same time providing an important barrier to external temperatures.
The resort is blessed by a beautiful, 200 meters sinuous, village-long swimming pool. Constructed like an ancient reservoir, the pool follows a better-known example, Cleopatra's Bath.
